Timer and Counter Product Guide

What they do:
Counters are used on fluid power applications for counting the number of parts processed, the number of cycles which have been made, or any other circumstance where a numeric count is valuable to the process.

Primary types and how they work:
There are two basic classes of counters used in industrial application; solid state and motor driven (electromagnetic).

Obviously solid state units are quickly replacing electromagnetic devices, because they can count both faster and higher. Very accurate electromagnetic devices can record up to 20 counts per second, whereas solid state devices can count upwards of 1000 impulses per second or more.
